Distress Ink Colourful Background

DT member Elaine here sharing this colourful thank you card.  I have used my Narky Finishing Sentiments stamp set to create a fun backgrounIMG_7350d panel to use on my card.  Details and how-to are below!

I started with a piece of plain white cardstock measuring slightly larger than an American A2 size card.  I used an embossing buddy to coat the whole piece of card and then placed it in my misti stamping tool.  I arranged all the stamps that I wanted to use from the Narky Finishing Sentiments stamp set and then inked them all up with Versamark Ink.  I then coated the card panel with clear embossing powder and heat set.

I filled in any gaps using little stamps from Lawn Fawn’s ‘Love Letters’ stamp set, inked again with Versamark ink & clear embossing powder.

Next I took three shades of distress inks and blended on all three shades in random areas on to the card bringing the clear embossed images and sentiments to life.

Once my panel was complete I cut it down using the largest rectangle die from Waffle Flower Crafts’ Lacey Layers die set.

For the white card panel across the front I cut down a piece of white card (from my scraps pile) with my MFT Die-namics Stitched Scallop Edges 2 dies and then cut it down to my desired width (4.25″).  This was secured to the front of my card with liquid adhesive.

I stamped the two birds from ‘Love Letters’ stamp set along with the open envelope and ‘thank you sentiment’ on to copic friendly cardstock (make it colour) with memento tuxedo black ink and then coloured with copic markes:

  • Envelope: C3, C1, C00
  • Birds: Y15, Y13, Y11, YR04 (beaks)
  • Letter: RV55, RV52

I used glossy accents for the beaks and a black glaze gel pen to accent the eyes.  To adhere the birds and envelope to the card I used small pieces of foam tape.  As a final embellishment to the card I put some dots of gloss white nuvo drops.

Masked Embossed resist – Sealed with a Kiss (DT Verity)

Hi there, it is Design team member Verity from Pretty Little Button. I am very excited today, you are all part of my next adventure in crafting…..venturing on to Youtube! For today’s card, I  choose to use the Sealed with a Kiss stamp set on the front of the card by creating a masked emboss resist card. I love the pop of colour the inking gives and how the sentiments from the stamp set really stand out. So, less writing from me today, and instead watch and see how these cards came together!
